Regional Economic Adjustment Plan for Building Resilient Communities in the Lower Rio Grande Valley

Home

The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC) obtained an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to develop a project entitled “Regional Economic Adjustment Plan for Building Disaster Resilient Communities”. The purpose of this grant is to develop a regional master plan for the four counties of the Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV), which include Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy and portions of Starr, that will ensure economic growth and economic recovery following natural disasters.

The major product of the project is a master plan entitled “Lower Rio Grande Valley Regional Economic Adjustment Plan (EAP) for Building Disaster Resilient Communities.”

The project title is "LRGV Regional EAP".

Associated with the LRGV Regional EAP is a Geographic Information System (GIS) centralized database for the collection and maintenance of infrastructure and assets that is housed at the LRGVDC’s Lower Rio Grande Valley Economic Development District and available for use by the public and government entities within the LRGV.

A consultant team led by S&B Infrastructure, Ltd., with assistance from Bickerstaff, Heath, Delgado, Acosta, LLP, Civil Systems Engineering, Inc., Guzman & Munoz Engineering and Surveying, Inc., Rigcatco Consulting, L&G Consulting Engineers, Inc., Olivarri & Associates, Inc., and TEDSI Infrastructure Group, Inc. worked with the LRGVDC to complete the LRGV Regional EAP.

Work began in March 2010 and the final report was approved by the LRGVDC Board on November 28, 2012.
