Steering Committee
The Steering Committee will help guide the development of the master plan entitled “Regional Economic Adjustment Plan (EAP) for Building Disaster Resilient Communities in the Lower Rio Grande Valley” (LRGV Regional EAP).
A. Responsibilities of Steering Committee: The Steering Committee will focus on the identification and development of potential projects, analysis and prioritizing of projects, and review of the overall plan; specifically:
- Assist with Public Outreach
- Provide Input Regarding Analysis and Prioritizing of Projects
- Provide Input Regarding Development of Potential Projects
- Provide Review and Guidance for the LRGV Regional EAP
B. Committee Make-up: It is critical that members of the Steering Committee make a firm commitment to attend and fully participate in all meetings, review and analyze information, and provide substantive input to the project. The committee should be representative of the region, with members representing the geographical areas of the four counties and key stakeholders.
- High-level Elected or Appointed Regional Representatives or Subject Matter Experts.
- Beneficial to project if Hidalgo and Cameron representatives include representatives from: county government, municipal governments of less than 10,000 in population, municipal governments of greater than 10,000 population, Irrigation District, Drainage District, Economic Development / Chambers of Commerce, and Private Sector. Willacy and Starr County representatives should also broadly represent one or more of these categories.
- Hidalgo County – 11 members
- Cameron County – 9 members
- Willacy County – 7 members
- Starr County – 2 members
- Federal and State officials and agency representatives invited to participate as Ex- Officio members.
C. Committee Meetings:
- Will meet at least 3 times during the project and also hold a final joint meeting with the Technical Committee.
- Meetings to last approximately 2 hours each (locations to be determined). First meeting and final joint meeting with Technical Committee could be longer.
- Current Schedule of Meetings: June 17, 2010 (Joint Meeting with Technical Committee), September 22, 2010, December 9, 2010, and August or September, 2011 (Joint Meeting with Technical Committee - Date / Time of day to be determined.
- Attendance at all meetings is critical.
